I have been looking for one of these portable clamp-on vises for awhile now. I have 2 fixed vises on my workbenches in the garage but sometimes when I am working on something in the backyard I need a 3rd hand. This should do nicely with it's 2" jaws. (And no, I will not be using it on the dining room table. It was posed here just for photo shoot.) Larry

Pretty neat! Looks like it'll even swing down horizontal, and rotate in place. That gives you a ton of options.

That looks like a COOL vise all right...
... you can adjust the angle any way you like it! Yes?
Where did you get it?
Cost?

I got something very similar to that, much much older, at an auction. At first I was like.... "eh - it's one of those things that got tossed into the box" then I realized how awesome it truly is. Seriously - those little things are damn handy. Mine is solid metal, no jaw or clamp rubber protectors, but it gets the job done.
One thing I like about yours is that it looks like it would clamp down to something thicker than what mine would allow.
EDIT: I just realized - yours has the "ball and socket" thing to it so it can adjust to different angles - THAT is very cool!!
Nice! Zac

Larry, do you have a brand name or anything? That looks like it would be handy for carving.

I fully expected to find the vise was made in China but instead I found that it is German made by a company called Geprufte Sicherheit. Article # TV-01. It's too bad you do not have a closer Aldi's store near you. Larry

LOML just yesterday asked if I wanted to go with her to the DFW area this weekend..... ;D I might just have to see if I can convince her to drop by and check on her brother and his wife while we are down there.....in Fort Worth and not far from Saginaw.....

I but instead I found that it is German made by a company called Geprufte Sicherheit. Article # TV-01. I was looking for this company and found out that Geprufte Sicherheit is not the name of the company but is the German seal of approval. The actual manufacturer name is Ovibell GmbH & Co. What can I say? I was a Naval cryptologist but I wasn't a linguist.
