There's a little too much going on with that one, Boodrow. I like the coves on the lid but combined with the ones on the side, it's sorta overpowering.
The box is also a bit tall IMHO which messes up the proportions.
Great construction but the design isn't quite up to par with the first two you made.

How did you end up cutting the coves?
I think, like Cody said, it is too tall, and maybe the coves are too deep. A little over stated.

I like that pagoda roof, but these sides are a mite harsh and busy whereas the previous box's sides suggested graceful elegant simplicity.

Your workmanship is outstanding, Boodrow, but I have to agree with the others. It is just a bit busy. I've been known to overdo a good thing now and again myself....lol

I am the last person you would want to get design advice from, but I liked the one with the big single cove better. I do like the lid a lot.

Thanks Doug , I have to agree this was a bit of a disappointment for me. I will see how the buyer likes it. Mite make a good fire starter if they dont like it. Boodrow

I wouldn't destroy that box. But maybe consider softening the sharp edges of the middle lands a bunch to make it look more like a bulging middle aged waistline. A block plane and some sand paper would accomplish that in less than a six pack.

Boodrow,
I like these - they have all turned out nice....but I gotta be honest, each time I read "cat box" I swear you are making chit boxes for cats!! Guess it's just the not-sucha-cat-lover in me.
If you were making dog caskets - that'd take my heart.

A block plane and some sand paper would accomplish that in less than a six pack. I was kinda thinking the same thing. Although I think I could easily finish it in less time than it would take me to finish a six pack, I'd have to be buzzing along to finish it in the time it takes Boodrow to finish a six pack of that Natty Light he drinks. ;D

I have been slacking on my comments on your boxes. Sorry. While the design on these boxes does not grab me, I am totally impressed by the awesome workmanship. The quality I see is really high standard. The coves are great. The miters look perfectly tight. Well done. My thoughts on improvements on this box after looking it over and doing some thinking about it are that it is the middle that seems to unbalance it. I would suggest that instead of doing a 1-2-1 with the flats, try a 1-2-3 proportion. Not sure how this would look, but I think it would soften the look a bit. Again I say, Great Job!

(My house cats each fit into about a cup and a half of volume when reduced to ashes and cinder)
Thanks, Mark

Mark the customer gave me the deminsions for the box. There is a local pet crematory not far from where I work , I need to stop in and talk to um about the size issue. Thanks again to all the replied Boodrow
