here are pics of my infill plane... it is a simple design - no depth or lateral adjuster. but the simplicity is perfect. a couple o minutes getting the depth just right and it is set - it will not move or slop....
Tim - iron is 2 1/4" wide. overall width is about 2 1/2; 8 3/4 long...
EDIT: sorry -- some issue with attaching my pics... gonna try to figure this out... sorry

Chris, no, not my design. it is a Preston-style infill. the iron hold down has a "marples" mark on it as well. info is very sparce out there. i tis very similar to one preston design - almost a dead ringer. but not quite. i spent more money on this plane than any other non-power tool in my shop! it is based on the Norris - the earlier types pre-depth/lateral adjusters. preston copied the best of the scottish makers... i wish i was that good Timmer - it was my pleasure. when i got it, some idiot had gone over it with a wire wheel and really damaged the value, not to mention the patina. but it is still entirely useable. and it really does outsmooth any bailey, bedrock, or other design that i have. now - i have never tried euro (horn) or japanese style planes so i cannot compare them. but this one does a heck of job. i must admit, though, that it is time to re-hone... oh - here is one more pic or 2... top to bottom: Stanley Gage G-4 Preston infill Stanley Bedrock 604 Stanley 4 1/2 and there are still more i just have not been able to fit in there... My name is John and I have an addiction to handplanes.

Hey John, I really like that plane holding cabinet... on left side! Really COOL the way you utilized the space! Do you have a soft material on each shelf to protect the blades? Thank you for showing your stuff! ;D

Thanks Joe. The shelves are just pine or hemlock so i do not bother to protect them since it is just wood. i have found, in the past, that anything soft also collects moisture - which brings rust. Not that wood is immune to moisture -- but it is certainly less than a foam or even rubber... two weekends ago we have a major rain event. it was so humid in the shop that between the morning before the storm to the afternoon during it (4 hours or so) - every surface in my shop that could rust did! TS, BS, jointer, lathe, even a Stanley 18 just sitting on the bench --- all rusted. there was probably almost 1/8" of standing water on all the tools. unbelievable... managing moisture is probably one of the hardest parts of storing my oldies... i still need to finish the other 3 doors. but i have not come up with a way to utilize the space well. i want to hang my drawknives, spokeshaves, and measuring marking tools - but without pegboard type hangers... ahhh, some day thanks again, john

THAT's a lot of water!! (moisture) I forgot where you live... seemed like it was on the left coast... I have a rough idea for a wall hanging cabinet with multiple doors, etc. if you want to see it... I haven't built it yet... but very close. So, I guess you were busy wiping up and surface treating...

nah, i live on the east coast - upstate NY.
i would like to see your design... i took mine partly from things i have seen - but not real plan.
i still wonder if verticle storage is better for planes... but i hate the idea of them falling! especially a good bedrock or english infill...
