Grizzly lathe info

I order a piece to go on the tool rest of my G0462 lathe. It was 1" post and the Grizzly tool rest post is something less and it won't work. The Grizzly tool rest post measures .830" I know a few of you have this lathe.

Thank you Fred - I think I knew it was less than 1" in diameter - I am going to have it made at a machine shop if I decide to get a smaller tool rest.

I own that lathe. I had to take the banjo & extension to a machine shop & have them bored out to 1.05" for the tool rest to fit. It cost me $75 to have both of them bored out.
OTOH, you can get a Delta 1" banjo that fits that lathe for $40 from

Herb thanks, I bookmarked that website. That might be a better road to go.

That Delta base is head & shoulders above the stock base that comes with that lathe. Much smoother action, easier to adjust, etc.
Be careful though, the Delta base is caked with that red grease. Makes a heck of a mess when you install it.
