Gary Foster has been a woodworking since he was introduced to it at nine years old by a neighbor. For most of his life he worked in his garage on small projects for family and friends. He likes to make things that are not only beautiful but are a challenge to build.
He designed and built his own 1040 square foot dream shop in 2000. Having the large shop changed everything. After he built the shop he started taking woodworking classes with some nationally known instructors. “I have found that it can be inspirational to work with someone who is at a much higher level than yourself,” He was has been particularly inspired by works of David Marks and the late Sam Maloof.
Gary joined one of the local clubs ‘Sacramento Area Woodworkers’ in 2005. When the members saw his work they asked if he would be willing to teach a “few” classes to the club members. The “few” classes have now reached over 40 hands-on classes and demonstrations with well over 200 students. Some of the work that they have produced has been of very high quality. This has been very rewarding to Gary,” By helping someone else to improve their woodworking skills you can make a much larger impact on their lives than if you just gave them a piece of furniture”
Gary’s work has won multiple awards at the California State Fair and also at the Design In Wood competition in San Diego California.

Welcome to WoW, Gary. It's great to have another experienced woodworker join us. I'm sure looking forward to your input although I do question the company you keep. ;D JK, Beamer is a great guy.

I liked the third person introduction.
It appears you have a strong background in wood working and teaching. Looking forward to seeing some of your projects. Welcome to WOW.
