Incredible. I wonder if it was a death or a divorce?
So much stuff not even used. Seems a shame.

I dunno - almost seems kinda bogus to have so much extreme equipment that was NEVER used.... who goes out and buys all that stuff at once, suddenly dies (or divorce) and had never used it?
Nice stuff - but, I think there's more to the story.

As I was watching that, I felt really SORRY for the guy that bought and built the shop and never had any joy of using any of it... Maybe he was into auto racing... and something happened to him... I wonder if it's still available... It would be nice to know... Never even heard of Martin equipment before... Looked just awesome! A woodworkers HEAVEN!! I wonder where it was... Just think, several of us could jointly buy it, then fight over who's going to use it & when! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Elegant shop... poor guy to not being able to use it.

Seems to me that with all that equipment, the fella was more into manufacturing than "real" wood working like us peones here do. ;D Or maybe he was a tool collector and didn't want to dirty up all his pretty machines by actually getting any wood too close to them.

I think it said in the area to the right of the film that the sale was in Oct 2009...that's why I said the sale was missed. Yeah, there has to be a story there somewhere. Would be interesting to know what the deal was.

All of that equipment was not unused. There was sawdust residue on some of it and the sanders had obviously been used. Also, there were plywood pieces in the rack and other evidents of usage in the shop.
It looked like the guy had just upgraded some of the tools and then either died or suffered banckruptcy/foreclosure. The shop location looked to be a commercial setting, too.
With the recent financial meltdown and downturn in the economy, it would not be surprising if he went bankrupt and lost all of his toys to foreclosure. There were lots of retirement funds that disappeared over the last couple of years.
Whatever happened, it was one heck of a shop. The only thing I can't get my head around was why he had a wide-belt sander, a closed-end drum sander and a Performax drum sander. That's a lot of sanding redundancy.
