I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in shooting the bull. Couldn't sleep again one night. The wife was asleep and I didn't want to wake her so instead of running the jets in our whirlpool tub I used one of those bath bomb fizzy things she had bought. Wife told me they cost like 3 bucks, lasted about 15 seconds. So since I was up anyway I googled Bath Bomb recipe. The only ingredient I couldn't get locally was citric acid, ordered some on the net.
Turned this "press" to fit inside a 2" plastic pipe coupler:
Today we mixed up the stuff to make the bath bombs, I used 4 cups of baking soda, 2 cups citric acid, 1/4 cup borax, 3 cups Epsom salt put it in an empty gallon paint can and ran it 10 minutes in my paint shaker:
To 1/3 of the dry shaken ingredients I added 2 tablespoons of PEG-16 macadamia glyceride's, 1 tablespoon essential oil scent, a few drops of food coloring and 1 tablespoon of water and mix quickly. Take that mixture and put in pipe coupler:
Pack by pushing and rolling my turned press then give a couple good wacks with the hammer:
Then push them out and let dry overnight.
Brown colored ones are sandalwood, Woodberry and cedar scent, blue ones are Woodberry, green are Eucalyptus and chamomile, purple are sweet-pea, orange ones are magnolia.
I had quite a lot of stuff left over after making these, I figure I can make at least this many more (60 from 2 gallon cans worth), probably even more. Figure if I get 120-140 total, cost me around $0.57 each.
I got the citric acid and peg-16 here:
store.suppliesbystar.com/otin.html
Got some of the scents that we didn't already have from brambleberry.com
Some woodwork involved, though not much ;D Seems when I can't sleep my mind wanders to some strange things and with the internet I can look them up and act on them, much to my wife's chagrin.
