I've got a feeling we may see another member joining the ranks here soon... I (we) had a visitor here today, young man, pilot, bundle of energy, getting ready to retire & already for sure ready to buy a lathe. I gave him the full sixty-cent walkthrough of my turning area, showed him the various stuffs a guy's gonna' want to have to turn anything from pens to bowls. Boy, talk about an information sponge! I've never seen anybody pick up info as quickly as this fella.  |

Well now just how did this fellow come upon the scene is the next question from "Curious George" and where did he come from ,why was he there etc,etc,,,,,,,,,,aha!!!! ,I got it you sold him a jeep.

Funny thing... by the way he's an ex- Blue Angel (no kidding, for real). He had posted an ad in the local Orange County FreeCycle, asking for a cast-off lathe. Me being the kinda' guy I am, I had responded that I didn't have one, but he could drop by my shop from time to time & turn. He's turned before, but that was 47 years ago. Now he's gearing up, bought a drill press & gonna' go to Albany & get a HF 12" lathe & gonna' put pink wheels on his grinder & hang a Wolverine under it. He's connected me to ANOTHER fella now, another guy wants to learn to turn. |
