Yeah - so - I quit using the rubber tipped hammer that you all dreaded for assembling my pens. I bought the pen press and while assembling a 30 cal cartridge pen - I pushed too hard and shoved two brass pieces together, flaring one. It was ruined - trying to back it out the threaded section that the nib screws on to just totally tore off....so.... now I have 8 dollars worth of extra gold 30 cal pen parts!
Which, actually isn't too upsetting because I am damn sure I am going to lose one of those springs while assembling at some point!!

Hang on to it, you will need something out of that extra kit someday. My very first cartridge pen kit I messed up and have been using the extra parts from it ever since. Actually, the directions were wrong! and Woodturningz sent me an extra part that I needed for that reason. I wonder if you have the new instructions? It makes a difference how you put the kit together, and the new instructions work much, much better. Don't worry, that won't be the only kit of extra parts you will have laying around for when you need something

A month or so ago I dropped one of the chrome parts to that bullet pen and dented in the side of it slightly. So I also have a complete extra kit in case I loose a part or break one too.

Nah Doug, this one was totally my fault. I went gorilla style on the pen press and jammed two fittings too far together. I wasn't even trying to press them - they were already pressed - I was putting the clip assembly into the pen and boom, SNAFU. No problem - the next one worked! Thank goodness I have a good stock of pen kits! I realized something a few days ago.... if I don't sell ANY pens.... I'm sure going to have a LOT of gifts for people!!! Zac
