Drove to Pleasanton last night and picked this up for $ 30.00: Its an old Monkey Wards, and with a little cleanup and some grease, it otta work like new. Think I'll take off the disk, as I already have a Delta 10" disk/belt..... My Grand Pappy had a whole shop full of Wards tools, and made many nice pieces over the years. I'll update with "After Cleanup" photos when and if I ever get it done. -tyler

Betcha with some practice you could use that puppy as a wide jointer type sander. Maybe add a bit of veneer or some laminate on the back side of the drum built up to the top of the drum and it would be almost like a jointer, only safer on thin materials.
Definitely a keeper.

Very cool indeed. I am glad you were able to get it. You will have as much fun restoring as using.

Yep, nice piece there Tyler. For that price I don't see how you could go wrong.
I'm with Jerry, I can see a wide jointer (of sorts) there.
How does the sandpaper attach to the drum?

Congratulations!Be sure to let us see what it looks like after you clean it up! Really looks nice to me... BTW, I'd leave the disk on... as a spare... I'd put a Hook & Loop base pad on it for quick-changing grits, etc. LOOKS really COOL!
