With the success of calling my first crows with a call I made myself, and the sun going down....guess what? That's right, grabbed another piece of wood and got to it! Tulipwood and R&R Calls reed: Another view showing the 'barrel end': Haven't tested it. But the tone is lower, and more realistic sounding(at least to me), which means it probably won't work? Learned the following: #1: Much easier to turn a 'solid' piece then a glue-up of two different types of wood. Got a much better finish this time. #2: Thinner barrel walls make for a better sounding call. #3: Tulipwood isn't as hard as walnut or maple, it was kind of like turning popular. It's also a lot more 'pink' then I thought it would be.... As always, critique the crap out of it! Scott (can't wait to test it) B

That is a really nice looking call - IMO it improved over the last, though I did really like that walnut/maple combo. I'm a sucker for walnut and maple. I've not turned tulip wood before, but from what I've seen, ain't it a whole lot pinker that what you'd think? Nice job man! Zac

THAT'n's NICE. A. Tulipwood is nice to turn, ain't it? Smells nice, even. A little... feminine, though.

A little... feminine, though. Tim, in order to call in a big Tom turkey, you gotta sound like a sexy hen turkey ;D Nicely done Scott. I love the shape, and the wood is sure purty. Now, take that out and tiptoe thru the Tulips and see how it works on those crows. If it is good enough to fool the crows, then it surely will work to locate a gobbler this Spring.

I like this one too. Simple yet nicely executed. Did you use the wipe on poly on this one.

Only question I got is why the heck would you want to call crows? Not into eating crow, myself, is reason I ask. ;D
Nice job, and I hope you call many crows with it.

Bustin' crows is a way to relieve tension at work... Actually it's great practice shootin' crows on the wing for dove, duck, and other great tastin' flying critters. The main reason to have crow calls is to locate turkey in the roost. Lots of people wanting them. Scott (crow bustin' fool) B
