Making some slow progress on the train project (had a bodyjob this week so just working on it in the evenings, dang job interferes with the hobbies ).
Got a few more pieces made and started cutting the wheel spokes.
Took me a while to get the pattern made in Coreldraw and get these cut out on the scroll saw, 66 blade changes.
I also got my canvas photo back from epingo.com for the background for my hanging my violin project the other day. Went up to my woodshop to cut out a 24½" x 32½" backing out of some 3/8" plywood and found I didn't have any. Went to Woodstock in Rapid City yesterday afternoon (probably shouldn't have, hadn't slept in 2 days. 180 mile round trip) only to find they didn't have any either. I got a couple sheets of ¼" Baltic birch plywood, new plan on this project.
While I was there I looked threw some of their cherry, found some I liked, the wife said okay go ahead and get it:
I was kind of surprised they didn't have this in their"special" section. It was right in their normal $3.42 a board foot section.
Without flash above, with flash below. I know this isn't the curliest cherry but compared with what they normally have it's pretty darn good for the price (I thought anyway, last time I was there all straight grain and white).
I've been slowly building up my cherry supply, at some point I want to build a couple end tables for my living room, sort of like I did that nightstand a while back

Except these will have western scene carvings in the top and have legs.
Been kind of nice here lately, temps have been in the 40's, course my snowman isn't likeing it much
"excuse me, my wires are showing" ;D
Thanks ~Mike
