One of the HD's here has the 6" jointer in stock, $199 does not look bad for that machine!

Oh man - I called about the jointer, but they were not clearanced in my area - the guy was really nice, looked up a few different things, and talked to the dept. head - but he said the list I was looking at must be from a different area. Geez - some great prices!!

The jointer has some code next to it, I bet it's only in certain markets where they are trying to get rid of them.

TY Chris, that is what the guys figured by that code next to it (they didn't specify California, but they figured it was a specific area) Ah well - we can't all have gloats at the same time! Zac

Nah, Tom - they are selling all the woodworking tools due to new state restrictions. All rattle can paint, and stains are next to be clearanced. Zac

Zac I can see the paint and such due to environmental regulations (well, not really, but . . . ) but what are the new state restictions on wood working tools about? More nanny state stuff like stricter safety requirements (maybe only able to buy stuff with SawStop like safety equipment installed) or are they trying to save the rain forests by eliminating wood working tools altogether?

At some point - wasn't there discussion (at the old forum) regarding California trying to pass some type of ridiculous laws regarding tools, power and other?? All I can find on proposition 65 is having to do with Chemicals etc.... I can't remember the exactness of the tool part, hmm....

Oh, I got confused thinking you were referring to where you lived, but you were responding to a post from someone in Califa.

Knew you wasn't in Califa, but thought you were referencing your home state and was wondering what other state was following in Califa's nanny state tracks. Ducks and runs from our fine CA residents.

Zac, Ain't that.
It's Flat Screen TV sets.
Yup, the new flat screen sets use too much energy.
It don't matter that my 46" Samsung uses less watts than the 25" Sony it replaced.
The Plasma sets do use a lot more energy.
And now, our government wants to add speed enforcement to all the red light cameras in the state. Fortunately it is against state law to do that.
