You really have to hold this pen to get the full appreciation for the wood. Maple burl from Gecko, and I had a feeling it was going to be special. Pics don't do it justice. It was a Fountain Pen kit, but I stuck a roller ball tip on it instead to see how it would work...works fine! And I absolutely LOVE the way the roller ball writes! Capped: And now uncapped:

great pen doug, I really like the grain pattern in the cap a lot. I am not big on gold either but it looks great with this wood. I have another road trip to austin this weekend (make 3 trips in 5 weekends) and am going to pick up a couple of the streamline american screw caps. I think I like the screw caps the best eventhough they are more. once again you did an awesome job.

Thanks Mav. I'm usually not a big fan of gold either, but it seemed to go best with this wood.
This American Classic fountain/rollerball pen is the one I finally chose after looking at several different ones. Seems like a pretty good pen kit and assembles very easily.

Maybe it's the redneck in me but I like the gold kits. It really looks good with that outstanding Maple, too. Even in the picture I can tell that it's really special.

Hehe! I think it is just the opposite Cody. Us rednecks like the Gunmetal finish for precision instruments like pens and rifles.
Gold is what you use for fillings at the dentist office ;D
