I made this yesterday, but we were without internet from yesterday afternoon until about noon today so I could not get onto the forum. Amazing how you don't realize how much you use the internet for until you don't have it anymore! Anyway, the pencil has Sagebrush that I collected myself from Cedar Breaks in Utah for the upper portion, with deer antler on the bottom. Since we have been talking about pickguard lately, I should explain that I used black/white/black pickguard next to cream pickguard sandwiched around a small piece of Bloodwood. I really like the cream pickguard next to the Bloodwood, and black is always a good separator color for antler. Best of all, LOML really likes the design, and she is usually pretty good about those color combination things...lots better than me.

Fantastic!! I really like the small amount of antler I'm bottom with wood on top. The pickguard does look very nice in the combo. Where do you get your pickguard Doug?

Zac, I get my pickguard from Grizzly. Amazing huh!?! Whoda thunkit, but it seems the owner of Grizzly is into looth...luth...louth....he makes guitars ;D It's kind of hard to find the square sheets that I have ordered from them, but here is a link to one of them. grizzly.com/products/Pick-Guard-Blank-3-Ply-White-Black-White/H6391I used the catalog numbers when ordering because the web site has something not quite correct and was really confusing. I got the b/w/b, the w/b/w, the solid black, and the cream colors. At $10.95, that is a great price for a big sheet that will last a long time.
