Wow, that's a beaut! I think your price range is about right, too. Tend towards the higher end unless they qbsolutely will not sell at that price.
Good luck on your show!

thanks cody, I was going to price it high since I am not sure if I really want to keep this one for my self or not. I figure if it doesnt sell I could alway find a good use for it at home.

I don't think I'd let that go for less than 50 bucks - probably more. Hard to know what your area is like - if it is a specifically "craft show" I think you'd easily fit in with the 60+ dollar price.
VERY nice looking - I like that buckeye burl, never seen one made up outside of magazines though. You finish it with CA?

thanks zac., yes I used ca about 6 coats. I think every time I go to austin I am going to stop in the woodcraft store. I like being able to pick out wood vs buying it online and hoping it looks cool when you get it. I liked this blank the best out of all then ones I looked at. Looking at it in the catalog I thought man that thing is ugly but in person I think it looks cool. The guy that worked there gave me some pretty good ideas about making some easy segmented pins using pickguard too.

Where do you even buy pickguard from?

I saw some on grizzly.com for 10 bucks for wht/blk/wht and blk/wht/blk. I don't know where else to get any besides that. the guy at woodcraft said I could also use veneering to do the same thing. Hopefully doug will chime in on where he gets his pickguard

I think you have it priced right Mav. That is a real beauty! I love Buckeye burl too...now I'm gonna hafta get some of it. I did one once before that did not look too special until I actually turned it. It really surprised me how nice it looked - it was all grey, and not nearly as nice as yours. That's a real eye catcher and on a very nice pen kit.
I know what you mean about picking out the wood in person - that's the way I like to do it too.

I went to our local music store to see what they had...if you want some quick, that is a good place to get it from. But they only had white, and did not have the sheets like Grizzly does. The sheets make it easy to cut up into squares - I make a bunch of 3/4" squares of each color and put them in plastic bags for easy accessibility. I got b/w/b, w/b/w, white, and cream colors from Grizzly. I would like to get some blue, red, and plain black but have not gotten round tuit yet.

thanks doug/imahic for the nice comments. I read somewhere that you can get some laminated plastic similar to formica counter tops in a bunch of colors but could not figure out where to get it from. I hope some other people offer there input in this area too.
