I have wanted to do one of these ever since I first saw one. You sure have to be patient with the turning though...very patient...coffee beans are not very stable! Here is a pic of both the Coffee and Cream blank from Woodturningz, and the Espresso blank. This one is my favorite...Classic Twist pen kit with the Coffee and Creme pen blank.

Doug - I have a coffee bean blank ordered with my last batch of stuff.... I'm sure I'll end up ruining it, but that happens. That came out looking really cool!

Thanks Zac. I really like the look of the white one. When I turned this one, I had to periodically use some thin CA on the coffee beans to help hold them together. That and a really sharp skew worked, but I still had to be very patient and take light cuts. It was definitely a challenge. The best part is that it fills the shop with the aroma of coffee! Well, kinda smelled like coffee in a melting plastic cup ;D

Along the lines of coffee thinking,,,,,,,,,I once turned the top of a pepper mill and then took a drill bit(didn't have a Dremel) and cut furrows and holes and just any design at random, then mixed up a batch of 5 minute epoxy and stirred in a good amount of coffee grounds and buttered it in,let dry for a bit and turn and sand,,,,,,,,,,looked pretty cool but you couldn't smell the coffee.I think I used a CA finish but not sure. dick

Yes Dick, the coffee smell only lasts while turning the pen. CA finish was recommended and that effectively seals in the coffee smell. Funny though, everyone still tries to smell it

Looks great doug, I went down to Austin this weekend and stopped in the local woodcraft store. They had all kinds of colors of those coffee bean blanks. I almost bought a few but went another direction. Now I wish I bought em......
