Perhaps a tray just for printer paper with a small cubby for spare printer cartridges? Might be handy keeping all the computer stuff together, works for me. TJ.

I think I'd start by asking myself "What do I want to have in this space(s)?" Little Odds & Ends: A bunch of drawers. Manuals & small books, DVD's: Open vertical cubby holes. Some of both but more Manuals & books: Cubby holes going across the top of each side with drawers on the bottoms. Remember... You have plenty of drawers down below... This is for Prime "at my finger tips" storage. Get it the way You want it... to handle what you want... ;D ;D Nice roll-top desk!! COOL! Don't forget about those "Secret" hiding places! ;D

The area is small. Too small IMO for much anything usefull. It's onlu about 2.5" tall. the other prolem with drawers is that the knobs will hit the roll top as I close the rool top.
Secret hiding places is taken care of.

A lot of roll-top desks will have a gallery there...vertical dividers placed in the opening to separate and segregate mail, receipts, etc. I don't know if that's possible now, though, because the dividers are normally recessed in shallow dados.

That area on top either side and that above the monitor would likely be too high for access to drawers. I'd leave the area above the monitor open with maybe a divider like Cody mentioned, and maybe add small doors on the open areas on either side. The doors would give it a more finished look. Secret hiding places is taken care of.Stole my thunder on that. Secret hiding places are a hallmark of the old roll tops, drop fronts and other desks.

How about drawers with flush mounted pulls. Those brass rings that fold down.

You could make a slide in section with dividers either vertical or horizontal. If horizontal, the openings dont have to be very high...like an in/out box.

I was thinking a power distro point but that is a bit high. You could just leave it open and it will be used for something.

I was thinking of this desk and that spot could be used for a recharging station for all the gadgets out now. Just another thought.

Thanks for all your thouhts. I think I'm going to go with horizontal dividers for the top. I may change my mind yet though. As for doors on the sides, I may do one side like that. After thinking about it, I like having an open area to set stuff. Else, where would I put my clutter.
