any interest here in seeing one documented? There is more than one build documented on the net but I am about to start on one made out of Bois d'Arc and if there is any interest, I'll document the process here at WoW. Now, my woodworking has been called laughable and I don't profess to be an expert at anything (except drilling oil wells ) but I'll be glad to do an annotated pictoral if it will help anyone.

OHHH yes!!! Yes, please! Please please!!! Two reasons: I'd like to see the project get built. But I've always been curious about HOW you go about building stuff. I'm quite interested - can ya tell?

By all means. I've been fascinated by the rocker geometry and mechanics since making some replacement rockers a while back. But that is like focusing on one tree in the forrest, I'd be real interested in seeing the whole forrest.

Cody, Yes, I too would like to see it! Thank you for offering! ;D Would it show the joinery of seat to legs, arms to legs, etc.? Would it be the Sam Maloof joining method? That would be really COOL... Have you ever tried the Video option on a digital camera? Could be used to make short video chapters... I haven't tried it... not sure about tripods, lighting, and audio problems. I think it would be a great educational show!

All right, I'm gonna start on it Monday. I'll be watching my Cowboys Sunday afternoon. Realize that the first chair took me 80 hours...that was parts of three 2-week hitches off so there will be at least a couple of 2-week gaps between postings. Joe, the chair will have the Maloof seat-to-leg joinery. I'll make sure I get lots of pics of that process for you. But, I'm not going to try and reprise Norm on the NYW. Although I'm pretty enough to be on a webcast, I'm not technically astute enough to do u-tube videos, even though I have a video camera. You will have to live with still photos. ;D Thanks for the interest. It will be a fun build with y'all following along.

That would be cool to see. That's a project I may want to take on sometime, but it has many projects in line in front of it right now.

Cody, we can do video. We could also do a custom finish if you'd like.

Cody, we can do video. We could also do a custom finish if you'd like. Thanks, Stretch. I'll still pass on the video but I may just take you up on the finish. Boodrow says you have some spare time now, so a hands-on finishing tutorial needs to be on your agenda, anyway. Jerry, try sanding on Bois d'Arc with a white T-shirt when you are sweaty. Bois d'Arc dust and sweat makes a pretty good yellow dye! Boodrow, buddy...that's LARRUPING ...–adverb Chiefly Western U.S. very; exceedingly: That was a larruping good meal.

YES
YES
That would be better than watching NORM
WONDER - if TJ could make a dedicated forum just for the Rocker build.
It would be wonderful to document the entire process.

Save your scrap for practice samples.

It's up to Cody and TJ, I guess, but I think we've got enough forums right now. I suspect Cody would open a new thread in General and just keep adding posts to it like lotsa folks do on FWW and SMC. That format really works well, I think. and it lets folks comment and ask questions as the build progresses. The nice thing about that format is at the end of the build, you have a single complete story all in one place that's real easy to search follow. Like I said - it's up to Cody on the format and presentation.

Perhaps it will help generate a bit more traffic here. I'm not complaining, mind you, but I can never get enough of woodworking discussion.
