This pen and pencil set goes out to Gecko. You may have seen the stool seats he made with some of this same Cherry. The blanks for these came from the leftovers from those stool seats. Thanks again for all the pen blanks Gecko!

Gecko requested the pen/pencil set, but not for himself...for his friends that had the Cherry tree. Funny how many times the first gift of some wood has gone around now and come full circle. I kinda like that.

That's wonderful! Doing so many pens - using exotic blanks, etc.... I forgot how much I LOVE Cherry. I've used it on bottle stoppers - but not any pens. I may have to - it's beautiful stuff.
I did have the pleasure of trying a piece of Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) - that is some nice lookin' stuff too!

Thanks Zac!
Yeah, sometimes it is nice to get back to basics and just make a nice pen and pencil set using domestic wood like Cherry or Maple. Nothing fancy, just some nice looking wood.
I did drill the blank a little off center to maximize the exposure of that dark grain that ran through the wood.

Thank you for taking all that scrap off my hands and doing something useful with it. Those look great! I am sure they will love them. In fact, I know they will. The joy in thier faces when they pick up the stool seats was indescribable. Thanks again.

You know what they say, one man's scraps are another man's pen blanks ;D Got them in the mail today, so you should have them in a couple or three business days.
