Hi,
I’m male, 62 yrs old, short, fat and bald. By profession I’m an electrical engineer (Go Gamecocks) and worked in the nuclear industry for 30 yrs. I sold my business (repairing instrumentation for nuclear power plants- we serviced about half of the nuclear plants in the U.S.) and retired in Jan. 07. Its great- I have no deadlines. If I’m working on something and want to move to another project I can. The other stuff will always wait until I get back to it again. I’ve been slowed down for the past year with myasthenia gravis.
My other hobbies include: astronomy, photography, golf, guitar, painting (acrylics), electronics, investing and microscopy.
I’ve always had a wood hobby but never a serious one. I’ve made a lot of stuff for the house and helped some friends out with furniture from time to time. But I’d like to get some more skill in the craft and improve my woodworking methods. I’ve lurked on different forums and picked up a lot of very useful information but this is by far the best one. I’ve also picked up some good stuff: Don’t put spray silicone on things that come in contact with wood; Try Timberwolf saw blades (never have been able to resaw wood), use shellac when possible instead of poly, varnish, etc.
TJ is doing a great job with this forum. Used to lurk at the “other” place and came over here when everyone else did.
