78+BF roughsawn black walnut for less than $150, ~$2/bf? I'd SAY they're worth it, if they're not all fulla' checks & case hardening from kiln drying!

Roughly two bucks a board foot... Not bad at all.

OK - I am sorry but,
I am an engineer.
I have a spreadsheet all set up so that I can simply plug in the numbers and get a value in minutes.
The narrower board was 13 feet - not 14
The wide boards are pretty straight and flat.
It does have its defects, knots, a little cracking, but not real bad.
I would say I am going to loose about 25% in scrap.
All in all it looks pretty good.
Air dried - indoors for several years.
It looks light in color for walnut - but I will not know till I mill some.
It is 73.78125 board feet
I offered him $100 for it all and he said yes.
Soo - it cost $1.355358 per board foot.
Not bad I think, considering I cannot touch a piece of Walnut round here for under $6.00 per b/f, and maybe $8.00 b/f for the wide stuff.
