First I'd like to welcome you to WoW (World of Woods). I founded this place, not as a knockoff of other forums, but as an alternative. Obviously, I cannot satisfy everyone, and I can't make a forum that will suit every member. It's outside the realm of reasonable possibility.
What is possible, is to try and find the happy medium between the masses. Not so much trying to satisfy any one person, but the group as a whole.
Now is the time for a couple small promises.
I, as the founder, promise to be a present as often as possible. I do not expect this place to keep itself, and won't allow it to try. I will be present to lock topics that have gone too far (more about this in the rules) and to try and keep everything civilized as possible.
I, as the founder, promise to be open to the idea of allowing the forum to grow and change as times go on. I will lay out the forum the best I can in the beginning, but I don't know if that will be the ideal for the forum after its adolescence. So, if a new board is needed, or even a whole new category, or perhaps if a category or board needs to be pruned, I'll do my best to make an informed decision (with the assistance of a staffing team who will be included in the decision making process).
Finally, I promise to try and keep the forums best interests in mind. I'm no different from other humans; I have topics that I feel passionate about, and other topics that I'd rather not have here, but I don't want this place to become 'Knotty Pine's forum', it is, as of now OUR forum. Yes, I did found it, and yes I'll try my best to run it. But, that doesn't mean it's mine. I consider forums a community property. And while I may take the position of executor of affairs, it belongs to the members.
TJ.
