Who knew? PSI has some absolutely FANTASTIC printable instructions on how to turn/assemble just about every pen kit they have.
Diagrams of which way the bushings should be facing, where each piece goes - etc..... wonderful, IMO.
The ones I got from woodcraft on a Euro style pen kinda sucked IMO.... just thought I'd shout it out - most probably already knew.
Oh..so.... if there is a pen out there you'd like to try, but you think it may be a little complicated on assembly - and aren't quite sure you wanna plunk down the dough for it.... check out the instructions - it may be easier than you think!

Yep and yep to both of you guys. PSI instructions are always available online and better than most other places provide. And the video of the guy putting a cartridge kit together was very helpful to me. Now, for another little known fact, Woodcraft has some wonderful videos of some of their products they sell. Some are worthless, but some are absolutely priceless. www.woodcraft.com/Resources/Videos.aspxUnfortunately you cannot link to an individual video, so you have to scroll down through all the videos until you find the ones you want to view. Some very informative stuff there.

Thanks Doug! Yep to both of you - I found the cartridge video on PSI's website, it was great. Couldn't have been easier to follow.

If you're buying from PSI, consider going to Woodnwhimsies.com or Woodturningz.com
THey both carry PSI kits for cheaper than PSI itself...better service, too, in my experience

Maxwell - in most cases I think it is only "slightly" cheaper, plus - you always pay for shipping with Woodturningz..... now - I have to say - there customer service is top notch, fast service, and a great variety of wood. Just saying - PSI, at times, may be a bit better choice..... woodturningz claims to be able to get any PSI product at a discount, but I'm not sure how long of a wait (if any) you are subject too then.
I'd check out both places, but I do confirm, Woodturningz is GREAT!

Zac I order from Woodturningz whenever possible. I get my order in 2 days and pay the flat rate box for shipping. PSI sometimes takes 2 days just to process the order.
And, the discounts really add up. If you want to see what the cost will be from Woodturningz, just look at the quantity discount on the PSI site. That is basically what they do as far as I can tell. It adds up when you order pens at the rate I do.
I placed 2 orders today, one with Woodturningz and one with PSI. Talking to Fritz at Woodturningz was a pleasure, but he could not give me the discount that PSI was running on some discontinued items they had in their catalog (he had already sold all of those he had in stock) so I had to order them directly from PSI. When I talked to the PSI guy, the step down in knowledge about their products was very noticeable.
That's just an example of my experiences with the 2 places.

Doug, I appreciate that. I have never called Woodturningz, always made an online order (which has always been great) I think the next time I may call them and see if I can get my whole order through them.
Question - if PSI was offering a $10 off any order over $49 kinda thing - do you think Woodturningz could meet that? Just curious.
Oh - and - for instance.... I want to try The Guardian Jr. from PSI - but Woodturningz doesn't list it online.... does that mean they won't have one in stock if I want to order from them?

Zac, almost always Woodturningz will have exactly the same deals and items that PSI does...some exceptions like the one I mentioned - the only reason Woodturningz did not have the same deal was because they had already sold out of the clearance items.
Woodturningz does not list everything that PSI has, but the can get virtually anything from PSI at a lower cost, and most of it they have in stock. Keep in mind that Woodturningz primarily caters to pen turners and that is where they really know their stuff. But I order almost anything in the PSI catalog from them at a lower cost.
And I always call them now with an order because they have my billing info already and the process is much quicker than on-line. It is very, very convenient to call Woodturningz and place an order, and I know I will be getting my order in 2 days. I love it!
