First is a Diamondback Rattle Snake Cartridge pen. This particular pen was requested by a customer to use a Gold pen kit with a silver nib. It is going to be a present for a lawyer...how appropriate ;D The other pen I got done today is another Cartridge, this time using Pine Cone It has a much different look than the bottle stoppers because it gets much closer to the center of the cone. And the other side of the same pen showing the "flame" that shows up when you get close to the center of pine cone.

Doug, You're on a ROLL! OK, don't tell me you went Rattlesnake hunting for Rattlers! Tell us more about the Rattlesnake stuff... what part is used... do you collect them dry or green... etc. etc. ;D ;D Beautiful stuff!!

these really came out great. I really like these cartridge pen kits. It seems like everyone else does too. have you tried the twist version of these yet?
oh and since I am a hot rodder to the core I sure love the flame job on the bottom pen,it almost looks like mike lavallee (guy who is most famous for his true fire paint jobs) put his touches to it. Goes to show you there is no telling what is lurking below the surface.

I have done my share of collecting rattle snake buttons, but I have never done anything with the skin. And casting them might be even worse than dealing with the skins. Either way, I am more than happy to let someone else do the dirty work...although it does not come cheap! This is where I got the rattle snake blanks www.pennstateind.com/store/WXSS8.html (actually I get them from Woodturningz at a very slightly lower cost )

I'm not even sure what it is, but just like the 50 caliber pen kit, I am not too tempted to try them. Yeah, the flame is pretty cool too. It reminded me too of the hot rod paint jobs with the long flames

Doug, those look really nice, especially the pine come one. I've wondered what the snakeskin would end up looking like.... Now I know, and no, they are surely not cheap.
I don't know what it is, buy I just do not cafe all that much for cartridge style pens... I mean, they look good, yours came out great, I just can't imagine writting with it....but I guess some people don't "use" the pens as much as I do. I think those styles are probably big sellers.... Just like the woopty woos get oohs and ahs on the slim kits, I still prefer a basically body style. Sometimes we gotta aim to please the customers right?
Nice work, thanks for sharing!!

Thanks Zac! I did not like using the cartridge pens at first, but I messed one up a little so that it does not "click" as well as it should so it became "my" pen I use it every morning to do the crossword puzzle in the newspaper and I have really gotten to where I like using it. It just takes a while to grow on you. They are popular with hunters especially - I just sold one today to a guy that I met at the cigar shop last week. We were just chatting and he saw my cartridge pen and was real interested. So I sent him some pictures the other day and today he called me up and wanted to come see them. He bought my best Antler one, then calls his wife to see if she wants to buy a rattlesnake cartridge pen for her brother for Christmas...they are coming back tomorrow to look the pens over and see if she sees one she likes for her brother the Doctor. They are so unique that folks like the idea of getting one for that person that is so hard to buy a gift for. Works for me

Great pens, Doug. I happen to like cartridge pens and that one with the Pine Cone top is just way cool.

Thanks Cody! LOML suggested that I use Pine Cone with a Cartridge pen - I had not thought about doing that, but it seems to work pretty well... That was one of the first pens that sold this last weekend.

Really nice collection Doug. I just got to ask the lawyer's pen you did take the powder out of the shell and he hits the click will it go off or will the tip for the ink. Now don't get them mixed up so you don't deliver something to someone else.

Thanks Marc!
I thought you had some of those PSI cartridge pens ordered? They are currently out of stock for the gold ones so I have some back-ordered. I wanted to do a cartridge pen for quite a while before these kits came out and they were really just the thing I was looking for.
