Hey Mav the combinations of Maple and Walnut is a good choince they go well together.

yep, it was happening in the finishing process. I was doing a ca finish and would heat it up when trying to cure the glue and polish it when I was finished using ca. a few days later the minor cracks would show up. I thought it was from green wood, tried boiling one and it did the same thing, then I tried sanding slow and keeping the wood cool and thats when I realized it is in my finish process. once I figured that out I changed my procedure and no more cracks. I am glad I figured it out, cause I really like this wood and cocobolo (well except finishing cocobolo), but was scared to use it cause it kept cracking on me. thanks for the nice comments by the way.
