It's been a while. I've got so much going on that I can't seem to get started on turning.
I get on it once if it ever shows up in my dream.

Sounds like me - it's been a while since I've spun wood. I NEARLY did it tonight, though... hey! It's only 9:30 here! I might... still... sneak... downstairs... and... SPIN... something...

It's all a matter of making time. Late in the evening, I had a choice - sit here & cruise the Internet - maybe play a hand or two dozen of Spider... or creep downstairs & remount that big birch bowl I'd roughed long ago & never finished 'cause I couldn't "see it" yet.
Now I'm all covered in dust, and my clogs fulla' chips. It's getting close, really close. I've gotta' sand a few more spots with the lathe turned off & the insides'll be ready to BLO again (it had moved quite a lot since last time).
The foot should be nice - it'll be a ring foot nearly 10" in diameter.

You're right... it's down there, though. I hope I remembered to mark it... na, shouldn't have any trouble distinguishing it from the others, I think. No sweet gum living in Vermont, so it'll look dif'rent.
Come to think of it, somebody (Zac?) sent me a piece of osage orange (Bois d'arc), too. That one's sitting in the kitchen, under the DSL modem, waiting for me to see something in it, too.

I'm the opposite - I've got too much turning going on, and I can't get started in flatwork!

It's all a matter of making time. That it is. I know I would get a lot more shop time if I took the time I spent lamenting my lack of shop time and actually spent it in the shop. Turning something like a bowl is so easy that I don't know why I don't do more of it. There's no plan necessary, no measuring, no joining, nothing but an idea and about an hours work. Heck, I'll bet even a cave man could do it. ;D

Very true Ruff, and if I could get away from this blasted electrical box thingy, I'd have more time too! Many's the day I've planned a trip to the shop to work up a bowl or something like that, and then decide to check my email. I then end up sitting at the computer for 7 hours.

I'm needing to get out in the shop and just do something. I need to turn a half dozen "pegs" to use for a wall hung hat rack the LOML wants. I'm thinkin spinnin won't be nearly as tiring as working the curve on the base with a spokeshave.
