I think I have to take checks or lose a lot of sales. I photocopy each check and we ask that they provide a phone number on the check if there isn't one. We went so far as to put their drivers license number on their check at the first show, but we have not done that since.
So far, all the checks have been good (knock on wood). I would guess that more than half my sales have been checks. I tried going to the bank they are written on for local checks and ran into some issues with that (having to go into the bank and provide a finger print), but I might try that again since then the bank has to make good on a bad check, not me.
I'm still learning what is going to work for me, and getting more comfortable with how to go about doing the craft show thing
