Ok guys,
As of right now I have no issue with folks using the forum as a way to shift their stuff. Especially if it's a tool that isn't used going to somebody who can use it. But, I do have to cover my own backside, so here goes.
Before reading any sales or trading posts in here, you MUST be willing to agree to the simple terms. They are;
1. I realize that by doing business with a member here, whether they are staff of just a member, that I am doing business with an individual, and am doing so at my own risk. The forum management cannot be held responsible for anything that happens between myself and another member.
2. I will not intentionally take advantage of any member by use of this section. This includes 'funny' shipping practices like waiting to get the check and then not shipping the items. Receiving the check and shipping an empty box. Getting an item in a 'trade' and never shipping the item I traded. Or advertising something I do not own.
That's all you've got to agree to, and by making any post in this board, you must realize that you have agreed to them. We're all adults here, so I think it's not too much to ask not to take advantage of people.
Now, there is one little catch, and I have to admit that it's a purely personal thing with me. When I see a trading forum like this one, and I see a member in that forum hocking something with only a couple posts, I get grumpy. I like to know the folks I'm potentially sending money or items to, and I like knowing they are on the up and up. So, if I see somebody here posting an items for sale with few or no other forum postings, it will be deemed as commercial, and it WILL be deleted on sight. The general rule of thumb for me is 25 posts. If you've got 25 posts, then I'll have a lot more tolerance for you, especially if its a "It's not being used, yours if you want it, PM me" type post. Just let folks get to know you. If you come in here hocking stuff and you have no other posts on the forum, you have a problem.
All 'deals' should be done in PM just for the sake of Privacy. Also once a deal is 'done' and everybody has gotten what they were supposed to get, make a post and let the staff know so we can lock the post down to prevent folks thinking the items is still for sale/trade.
TJ.
Addendum: Along with posts by first time users, we don't want this to end up a spam basket so any commercial posts will reviewed by the staff for propriety. E.g., hand made tools by sustaining members would most likely be a valid and supported post for this section, a random post by a garden tool maker, not so much.
