I have a Grizzly lathe (G0462) . I was wondering what size bolt will fit the outboard side of the spindle? I,m thinking 12 mm and I think it is left hand thread.

Thanks Les but the manual doesn't give any size... It isn't used so don't guess they thought anyone needed to know. I'm thinking of putting a hand wheel there. It might be more trouble than it's worth.

I kind of thought a hand wheel would be nice too Fred, no idea what size bolt it'd use.

I don't know if this is something you guys might want to do or not, but I had the same issue with my lathe and I finally came up with a solution. It only works if you are using the morse taper and not the 1x8 threads on the headstock, but I put a donut on those threads on the inboard side of the headstock. You need a 1x8 tap to do it, but I got one from Lee Valley www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=57074&cat=1,330,49238&ap=1 For $20 you get a neat new tool tool too

I have a chuck on mine most of the time so a handwheel would be ok to have. It would have to be taken off to knock the spur out. Be nice to have a spindle lock and an indexing pin. ;D ;D The vortex is bottomless.

It sure is Fred. There is always something else that would be fun to have I looked for a reverse thread so I could put a hand wheel on my lathe and never did find anything that would work so I have to improvise. Some lathes come with them and they would be real nice to have...wonder why they don't make something for our lathes.
