They are both excellent. both shapes are great but I really like the shape of the cone. I got a batch of cones to try but I have not had any time in the shop lately. I hope mine turn out as nice as these did

I like the shape of that hackberry, seems much more elegant to me.

I give them both 5 Natty Lites! I really like them both.
Nice job on centering the pine cone. I like that.
And anything spalted is always nice.

I know the Cone requires a lot of work to get it to look that good, but I'm going to have to say the Hackberry is my favorite. And it's not just the spalting....you should know how spalting just gets me up in the morning!!! Got to go with the simple shape...it seems to flow from the stopper in a nice smooth line.
Scott (5 Natty Lite....now that's funny) B

I like the cone - but those are always awesome. Nice shape. I REALLY like the way that the spalted hackberry looks from the top, just a really awesome looking spalt.

Thanks Scott and Zac , I luv the spalt myself and they is a whole lot easier to turn. The reason I used CA finish on it was it was pretty punky wood , figured the glue would help hold it together. Boodrow

Boodrow, I would say you have a firm grasp on how to turn stoppers. Both of those look great to me. Thanks for sharing your work.
