Black & White Ebony Mesa Pen

Doug got me started with woodturninz. This is a mesa kit that I like. Lil on the heavy side though.

BWE is one of my favs too for pens. I have not tried the Mesa, but have done quite a few Gatsby's which are similar. And I just finished a click Gatsby which I like a lot better than the twist Gatsby.

I like them because you only have to turn a single barrel. I hate the huge 27/64" tubes they use. I've had several very nice pens crack as I put them together because the wood is turned so thin.

It is a big hefty pen, but very classy looking. Nice job on the Mesa Boodrow.

Thanks Mav & Doug , I to like the BWE , chits expensive though! Got that blank from woodturninz also , it wasnt like the BWE I got from woodcraft that was wringin wet.
The large drill bit does kinda leave the wood thinner than I like.

Wood has some nice figuring to it.

Did you happen to hit it with the moisture meter? I remember you having problems with the othe blank(from the other place)....

Scott I honestly didnt , Chit I wished I had of. The batch I got from woodcraft , the sawdust was like mud it was wet.

Scott I had my head in my arse on the moisture content , I still had half that blank left , The content ranged from 8% to 10%

Boodrow - I've never been a huge fan of the Mesa style kit - but I've always like the B&W Ebony that you've posted. PLUS - you did a pen which don't happen all too often. Nice job!
