I got it bad...making these antler light pulls is my new thing to make and I made these 2 sets along with 3 others today. Thanks to Scott who provided the Whitetail Antlers! They are very unique in that they are a very dark reddish brown color. I think I'm going to keep them as sets.

And here is another set completed today. Hey Scott, I'm using Picasa now to put labels on the pics. That is going to be real helpful. Thanks for that tip a while back...I'm liking Picasa quite a bit.

Picsas3 has a lot of easy to use features...if they only would incorporate a 'border' tool, I wouldn't even need PhotoShop. And you are correct, the 'text tool' is perfect for keeping photos organized....especially if you had a website to sell your product. Scott (very cool idea for 'scraps') B

Hey Doug those Antler Pulls look great! Well done.
Question? How do you post pictures from Picasa 3 to forums?

Thanks guys! I had a lot of fun making those things yesterday. Zac, I hope they will appeal to folks with summer cabins up here in the mountains of NM, but my wife likes them too - she already has claimed a set for herself and they are on the kitchen ceiling fan right now. I am threatening to take them with me to the next craft show...we will see who prevails Scott, I used Picasa before and the new version Picasa 3 is really much better. I noticed that if I leave the picture editing program up it will automatically capture any new pics I upload - the bad side to that is that it also picks up any changes to those pics...like when I resize them. Les, I need to try to streamline the process if possible. I currently download pics from the camera into a folder I create for just those pics on my desktop. Then I review them and select the pic or pics that I want to post and save them with a descriptive name. Then I crop as needed then resize. That is all done with Microsoft Office Picture Manager which is my default software for jpg's. The next step which I just recently added is to use Picasa 3 to put the text on the pic and save it. Then I post the pic to my Flickr website with some more information added and put in the appropriate folder on Flickr. To post to the forum I use Tinypic to create a direct link url using the Desktop picture saved earlier - I might be able to use the Flickr version, but I have not really looked into doing that. I'm hoping the new WoW forum software will make picture posting a little easier.

Thanks Boodrow! And especially thanks for getting me started on these light pulls. There are so many "kits" for all sorts of neat things to make with a lathe, but not many that will do well at a craft show...these are one of those exceptions and I think will be a permanent addition to my display table.

Doug ur quite welcome , they have been good low end sellers for me. I had a dental appt yesterday , I carried some cone pulls with me and let the ladies at the front desk look at um while they were torturing me in the back. Sold one , but the lady wants more of them soon. Boodrow

Doug, those are really awesome. Great idea, too. I may have to "borrow" that idea since I had already decided to do my small stuff all out of antler...pens, BS, etc.
Zac,
What's with the profiling of Texans? You think we're a bunch of rednecks that cling to our guns and our religion?...you would be right! ;D

The love of guns, trucks, and most everything America is why Texas is one of the very few places I'd consider moving to! Zac

Boodrow I am taking the opposite approach to the light pulls...I am only going to use antler an pine cone with them and keep the price up on them. I have made 2 of them out of wood and neither one of them was even worth wasting the kit on. One I had in my display and nobody even looked at it even though it was only priced at $15.00. So I am taking that kit off and using it for something that has a better chance of selling.
Cody, I think the antler light pulls is one of the best ideas I've seen in quite a while and I think they will sell very well...we will see.
Zac, TX is like a whole different country, and one I could live in as well.
