Doug, how do you go about mixing these together? Do you plane each down, then glue them together before turning them?

Doug sounds like he's going for the smack-talk.....hehehe! You guy are a hoot!!!! Scott (glad I'm not judging...goin' to the brothel) B Scott, I'm just trying to help out my friends here...Boodrow would get into too much trouble with the "War Department" at a Nevada brothel, and Zac is much too tender an age to be taking pony rides at the Mustang Ranch! ;D I would only go to enjoy the piano music

well if we are casting votes for the winner I like boodrows the best. All of them are cool and very unique but Boodrows shape in my opinion is outstanding. Good job to all three and I am glad you guys finally posted them. Oh yeah thanks a lot Mav! I'm gonna have to put a stop payment on that check I sent you! How much did Boodrow pay you?!?!?

Doug, how do you go about mixing these together? Do you plane each down, then glue them together before turning them? E The trick to doing that is to use a Forstner bit to square up one part of the blank (like the Spalted Pecan), then leaving that piece in the drill press vise, switch out the Forster bit for the stopper drill bit and drill that right where the Forstner bit leaves that indention. That makes sure that the hole drilled is perfectly perpendicular to the stopper blank. Do the same to the other half of the blank to be joined, then figure out a way to glue them together with the holes lined up. For this one, I used a dowel to join the 2 pieces together and then re-drilled the Pine Cone portion and tapped it. So, that is 3 places that the stopper blank pieces have to be squared up using a Forstner bit then drilled. It is a fairly straight forward concept, and one that our own Timmer man came up with for us, but it is not always easy to achieve when dealing with irregular shapes like a Pine Cone. I hope that makes sense, and if I need to clear something up about the process, I'd be happy to elaborate.

LOL , Thanks Doug , if u noticed the time date stamp is partly missin , all I did was crop the last one. Guess I should have done the others that way. Yes this has been a blast , I for one was a bit more nervous on these turnings , scared I would screw um up. I have to say my 2 friends done a great job on thiers , all B/S aside. Hell sometime its more fun pickin at each other than bein so polite all the time. When it comes to bsin Ive been told im good at it by employers. Also my hats off to Zac for doin a great job on his without the use of a skew. My young friend u have came a long way in a short period of time. WHen ur my and Dougs age there wont be nuttin u want know bout turnin. Again it was a blast , and I want to thank everyone for the kind comments and keepin up with this post. Boodrow
