This was an idea that came my way this weekend. My cousin had a good thought for what to make some light pulls from. I can't tell you how many of these ends of a Deer antler that I have tossed out in the trash before now... And another angle showing the bottom.

Haha - you never cease to amaze me. That is VERY cool. That looks awesome Doug - what did you finish it with?

Thanks Zac! As you can imagine, this thing is a little risky for the fingers when sanding and polishing So, it only got a couple of coats of thin CA applied while I turned the lathe by hand. I thought about doing the Lacquer dipping, but I've never tried that with antler and I decided to go with the thin CA.

Thanks Mav!
And LOML had another idea to use the very tips of antlers for light pulls too. I have never thrown those tips away, even though I did not know what I would ever use them for.
The better half is thinking people might like one type for the fan pull and the other type for the light pull so they would always know which one to pull. That's on the agenda for tomorrow.

Excellent idea Doug. Looks good and should sell. Plus it really gives someone something to hold on to whilst pullin on it. I used the laquer dip on the elk antler u sent me , seemed to work great. Boodrow

That is great, Doug, very unique. I think the idea of the smaller tips for the light and the larger ones for the fan is a good one. I'm sure they will soon be hanging in hunting camps and lodges all over New Mexico and West Texas soon.

Thanks Boodrow. Lacquer dipping would probably be a lot better method so I'll give that a try on the next one.
Thanks Cody, I'm hoping they will be a hit at the craft shows in Ruidoso.

another good idea for tips is to drill a small hole in the base of it and add it to a keyring. I keep all my huntin buddies lined out with them, since they supply the goods.

Very nicely done Doug! Now you can use every piece of the antler. "Waste Not Want Not"

Thanks for that idea too Mav! A keyring is a great use for those left over tips.

Thanks Les, and yes, now I will be using the entire Antler. Here is what I came up with for using the very tip. LOML approves, so it must be a good solution. Some sets of these pulls are going to be included in my next craft show for sure!
