Rented a man lift for yesterday and today to finish the siding on the front (street side) of the house.
Saturday my son came over to help me.
oops, wrong button, up dad not down!
Son a bit bored waiting for me to figure out the controls, he's had more experience running one of these than I have but I hate ladders just a bit more than he does ;D
Once we got up high enough that it only took one piece of siding to get all the way across (16') we calculated that every board above the previous one was 24.75" shorter than the one below it and used the cutoffs as a pattern so we didn't need to use the ladder anymore.
It started to rain so we took a break for supper, finally stopped raining about 9pm we finished that last piece of siding at 9:55pm. Had to use my pocket flashlight to see the controls on the manlift, told son we should wire some 12 volt LED's over the control panel for the next guy, he figured not to many people probably use the lift after dark
This morning, looking pretty good if I say so myself. Only thing left on the front is to caulk.
Caulking the top.
A shot looking down from in the basket.
Evening shot of the front, got the clock and all the lights reinstalled. Now I just lack the 1 side to the right (in this pic) have to replace a window in this side too.
I think I may have over estimated the amount of siding I needed, think I'm going to have quite a bit left over. I need to jack hammer out the sidewalk in front of the house, when I re-pour them I may use some of the left over siding as a stamp on the concrete.
Anyway the worst part (for me, the high stuff) is done.
What do you think?
Thanks ~Mike
