I can wait Zac. I'll work on the second one some more. I just did not want to be the one holding things up because I was gone over the weekend.

Now that you guys have turned the wood...
#1: Was the blanks the right size? Too big, too small, too short, too long....
#2: Was the crosscut grain something that you would order if they were available at a vendor(online somewhere)?

Scott the blanks were perfect , the end grain on the side is something that would be hard to sell . But with the proper toolin it was simply beautiful. I took the 2 I turned to work and got rave reviews by my co-workers. I always say , God made the wood , I just turn it. U and EM found this stuff at the rite time. Ive offered Em some of my manhood for some pen blanks , but he isnt interested. ;D I gotta plan on a long weekend and meet u fellers , hope I dont scare u when I walk up. Women in stores are terrified of me , I look like a homeless person. Boodrow

No wood blank can ever be too big, but those came close. I had a hard time turning them down because the wood was so beautiful. I think you could make them smaller and it would be better. Could be shorter too. Hate to waste great wood. In fact, I have a piece that I trimmed off the second blank that is going to end up being a very nice pen someday And yes, I would buy some of that wood. I do not buy much wood for pens and stoppers, but I definitely would buy that wood. It is the nicest looking wood I've ever used with the possible exception of some really nice Black and White Ebony. That is definitely some premium wood Scott. Thanks for letting me try it out. I work with cross cut wood a lot, so the grain orientation did not bother me. In fact it is hard to get blanks like that if you don't cut them yourself. Wish you the best of luck with that batch of spalted Pecan. Just how much of it do you still have? I'm definitely interested in getting some more of it. I better go see if I can find some pine cones to trade

I wouldn't mind some pine cones to fiddle with Doug! We are working on some more cross cut stuff right now, not sure what size blanks we will get though. Hopefully something good will come out of them. As far as the amount of wood left, it just depends on what I find this week when I wander out around here. For now, most of the spalted pecan we have left is going to be regular cut stuff, not cross cut. We do have quite a few pen blanks of that though. Trying to get more cross cut stuff though, I think it looks better.

Em I have to agree with u , the cross cut on the pecan shows more of the spalt. Its a bugger to turn , but worth it. Boodrow
