Woohoo! Got mine in the mail today. The burro looks pretty tired though,,,not sure if he will make it all the way to Zac today.

Well, I got one stopper turned today, but my wife hates the shape, so I might have to make another one. I like it a lot, but she said the shape was ugly. She's usually right, so I guess I'm not quite ready to show my entry for the contest just yet.

The wood is absolutely gorgeous! Unbelievable spalting. In fact, that was probably the problem,,,I could not stand to make it as small as it should be for a bottle stopper because I hated losing the wood. I may modify it or just make another one, but I'm gonna sleep on it tonight before deciding.

Doug my thoughts exactly , the shape of the one I turned is a shape ive never used before , simply I couldnt stand to turn the spalting that was present off the wood. I did lose some spalting on the bottom with my skew skate away. Pissed me off sumpin terrible , was in the sanding process and seen a spot that would be easier to use a skew on instead of sanding. Thats when I had the skate.

Made me want to cry.....well, maybe that was the sawdust being spit out of Emerson's chainsaw?

I turned the 2nd one this afternoon , didnt like the way it was goin , took it off the mandrel sawed bout a 1/2 inch off of it after sittin for a long time study it. I have to say my first one is still the one I like , I will just have to see where this one leads me tomorrow. Got tired after the thankin , cuttin , squarin up the bottom and decided tomorrow would be the day to lay the toolin into it. Course the natty lites was flowin pretty good too. Im a tired ole fart

Forgot to check my mail yesterday...shows I'm getting older I guess. Received payment for a couple of cartridge pens... Seems simple enough, but it was mailed Monday from Two Dot, MT!

Now if an envelope could be sent regular mail($0.42 stamp)....

I think the wood arrived today - I couldn't get to the Post Office until after it was closed, but I had a "package" card in the mail so I'm thinking it got here.

Hey guys, I'm leaving tomorrow for the craft show and won't be back until Monday. So, I won't be able to show my pics until I get back.

I don't know who the judges are or what the prize is, but since Boodrow has the competition all locked up anyway I guess it doesn't matter.

LOL Doug , mine will prob place last , and im not goin to post any pics till Zac has his turned if he ever gets um. Shame on the Posty Service. I have parts transfered to me from Shreveport PO and Ive seen it take 6 days.LOL hell I could have walked there and back in that time.
Any way Doug I hope u knock um dead and come home empty handed of inventory and lots o cash. Maybe u can buy a case of some good nat lite with all ur earnings.

Doug im thinkin the prize will be an all inclusive trip to Hawaii , or brothels in Nevada. I dont think I have a chance at this after I turned the 2nd one today , most of the spalt is gone , but I was goin to turn this one thinner and I did. Wrong.

LOL Boodrow. I had issues with my second one too and I won't be able to get back to it until after the holiday weekend.

But I am going to make an all out effort to win since the prize is a trip to Hawaii or brothels in Nevada ;D
