You guys crack me up!!!!
Side note: The 'blanks' were mailed at 0830....I was the first person in line!
Remember.....the walnut and maple are a little green. The walnut had moisture along the saw blade as it was being cut, the maple was a little dryer, but still green.

Thanks Scott, I can't wait to see all that great stuff - this is as good as getting the mystery box. As far as the green Walnut and Maple...I plan on soaking them in Denatured Alcohol for 24 hours to speed up the drying process. They should be ready to turn 2 or 3 weeks after that. I like to think that soaking in DNA also helps prevent checking and cracking.

Scott and Em , I got my wood today!! Its simply beautiful !! One thing that is goin to make it interesting , is the way the wood was cut we will be turning 2 sides of end grain and 2 sides side grain. Ive done it before on bois de arc and it was beautiful , harder to do , it will certainly test our wee skills as stopper makers. I will carry the walnut and maple and check the moisture content with my el cheapo moisture meter. Seems to do a pretty descent job. At that time I will either soak them in DNA or anchor seal the end grains and store um for several months in the house where the temp is pretty close to a constant. Will let u know later on this afternoon what the moisture is. Again thanks guys for some really beautiful wood. Boodrow

No fair! I didn't get any spalted Pecan stopper blanks in the mail today. I guess TX is a lot closer to Arkansas than NM is, eh? That was pretty dang quick.
Sounds like it's time to really sharpen up the skew!

Scott and Em , my moisture meter says the maple is 16% moisture, which aint to bad , will get better in a couple months , the walnut is kinda crazy , it read 12 to 16 until u got to one side of it and it pegged at 22%. I dont know if it had a crack in the top part that isnt sapwood , but it do now bout 3/4 inches down. Which is fine , All in all a damn good lookin bunch of wood. I have tears in my eyes as big as horse terds thankin u 2 for sendin it to me. Boodrow
Beware Zac and Doug , mine is round ;D
