I really appreciate the compliment, but I didn't have anything to do with this excellent project. How does one get a set of plans for this chair? art

Just got a shocker!! The plans, full sized templates for three different sizes of chairs, and a "book" instructing the making of the chairs from Hal Taylor . com. The shocker for me was that the price has really come down from when I bought mine. Of course, the book and instructions are now in pdf while mine came in hard copy, and each part is available separately now, where I had to buy everything but the BBHT (highly recommend you get it) and DVD set all together. The first link I chose from google didn't look like Hal's page and I thought someone had pirated his plans, but . . .

Man... I KNEW better than to come look at this... I just didn't know I knew THAT much better than to come look.
Dave, that chair is a glory all unto itself. Very very very nice work.
If that's one app of Watco, and you've got another on it now, then I'll say one last app should have ya as good as it gets. MAN that's some pretty!

That is gorgeous! The oil really brings out the wood! It looks so comfortable I'd spend my days lallygagging in it. Great job! And post more pics of your projects! Don't worry about not being good at taking pics. Your work does all the talking!

Darrell,
The chair is absolutely stunning. You did an outstanding job of crafting it and I have to say, the new design is more attractive than the old one. Those arms are really nice.
I know you have to be immensely proud of how it turned out and rightfully so. It will be an heirloom and I imagine one day your great, great grandkids will get rocked in it.
Well done, sir.

Lets see, 120 hours at $ 30.00 per hour would equate to $ 3,600.00 dollars.
Wow ! That is an expensive chair.
But, worth every penny.

Larry Throw in about $500 for wood and $100 for sculpting/sanding supplies and finish and it =$4,200 which is close to the price point where these type rockers routinely sell. It seems like a lot until you consider that Sam Maloof got ~$25,000 each for his...with a two year waiting list.

Awesome Chair - I would LOVE to make one of those one day.
I already spoke to Shawn and Laura and they don't want one.
Shelle has gotten a couple of things already - and I need some stuff around the house.
I can only do just so much in one year.
However - every time one of youz guyz post and AWESOME rocker like that - I get green with envy.
One day - One day. It just might be for me though.

You, too, deserve to benefit from your woodworking. Or if you don't have room, make it for your church or other civic organization. They could either keep it or maybe auction it off, or have it as a prize in a raffle. You could get a pretty healthy tax deduction for that.
