Hey, guys: It's done. Not perfect, but this one I did before your help. I have another in the making that reflects all your suggestions. Hope it doesn't disappoint. Photos against a mirror: Rabbeted lid. The base is likewise rabbeted to add gluing surface. This is for Joe: The dimensions The top: My Hubby's gift on our 30th! The specs: Maple, Mahogany, Brazilian Blood wood, Yellow Heart, Purple Heart. White and yellow veneer. Oiled with Teak, and plenty of coats of Shellac (I don't do that well at all! ) I hope you like it. It wasn't easy. It would have been easy if it were made of a solid piece of wood, but matching and centering the pattern was daunting. Too many things can, and do, go wrong! Thanks for your patience. I'm still a newbie. Thanks for putting up with all my questions.

Great attention to detail - it's fully diagonally mirrored! Everything ABOUT it is difficult... but you pulled it together. Good JOB, 'Lizabeth!

Oh THAT is absolutely STUNNING
Love the story that goes along with it too.
Diane and I are on year 33 this year.
Lifetime commitments are also a treasure.
Congrats - on your life together - oh and the ring box too.

That's very cool. Working that small is such a challenge. When an object can be held up to the eye, everything has to be perfect. You did well. I know for a fact that I couldn't have done as well on my first try. You should be proud.

Wow........ WOW!!
Elizabeth, that is absolutely super! I'm at a loss for words. To get that kind of detail on something that small is incredible. Take a bow, lady, you've earned it.

Holy cajun guacamole!!! That's fantastic stuff, Elizabeth!! Crikey ... Talk about patience required.. Ain't no way you can give more credit to anyone besides yerself. You have a natural raw talent and that's what's giving you these results. You're able to take advice and turn it into practical outcomes - THAT's talent. FINE work. F-rickin-I-N-E work.

What a blessing your hubby has in you. I wish my wife showed the patience that you obviously have. That is a great looking mini-box. He will be just as proud as you. Rightly deserved I might add. Just beautiful.

I just noticed something else... 'Lizabeth, you've FOUND what I've been looking for for decades. There's something in this world - I've had 'em, I've touched 'em, I've rolled 'em over in my hands, I've wondered & queried again & again & again... WHAT can these be USED for? You did it - you discovered what they can be used for, and the purpose suits them well. Pizza stools. That's a PIZZA STOOL underneath that box in the display case, isn't it? Of course it is! You're the only person I've ever seen who FOUND what they're beautifully suited for!

I had to go back and look at the pics again and tim is exactly right. She has hit a goldmine and found a perfect 2nd use for those things.

My hat's off to you, 'Liz. Personally I'd rather take on a life sized model of the Titanic than do something small like that. My short fat fingers are getting stiff with arthiritis and just don't have that delicate touch that scale of work often needs.

I don't see how you can work with stuff SO SMALL! Thank God you keep your fingers out of the saw, etc.! Unbelievable... BUT, I see it! ;D Awesome work! Thank you! Now, let's just hope the dog doesn't get this one! ;D I'll bet you would love to make some of this guys Puzzle Boxes.! ... and Here!Cool Stuff!

Thank you all. I really appreciate your words and encouragement. Leo: Congrats on your 33. Lifetime commitments are our foundation. And, if I'd grabbed a black paint spray can instead of the Shellac I think I would have died! ;D Jason: The credit belongs to all of you. You have guided me every single step. Remember, three years ago I had never seen, or heard of, a band saw, router, etc. Not the foggiest. I'm the budding result of your generous patience. All I have are ideas. They never quite turn out as I picture them! Tim: It's a Pizza support. I love small things and use the pizza stool to display my miniature collectibles in the curio cabinets. They come in handy. Wish they were clear, not white. Rick: Thank you. What a compliment! I'm not there yet though. That's a title I'm still earning. Joe: Not too shabby for your Agee. This one was for you. Everybody: I just can't thank you enough for all the time you spend guiding, instructing, encouraging. It's what's kept me going during the (all too many) times I've wanted to quit. Have a good one and thanks again!

I find this a very interesting design. I immediately thought what a great idea I would to make a ring box for my beautiful misses. If you don't mind that you gave me some inspiration I would like to make one as well. Of course I would post the finished results on here. I probably will go a different route on the wood and do my own take on the design and pattern of the wood on it. Hmm had been trying to get away from smaller things for a little bit and work on a big project. Building a king size bedframe with drawers. But I see a good idea and kind of wanted to do this for the misses. I have some blood wood, black walnut, hard maple, and purpleheart I could use. The misses favorite color is purple. Have some paduak as well but there is no way I am not going to contaminate the maple with paduak dust if I do that. You got my mind going and brainstorming.

Joel: I think she'll love it and if her favorite color is purple give her the box with an Amethyst ring! Can't wait to see it!

That is an awesome job you did on the box. To be as small as it is and to come out that good is nothing short of spectacular. Hat's off to you for sure.
