THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it wasn't for all the time you have spent helping me I would have just ruined my first little box. I'm anxious to show it and have diligently been oiling and now finish coating with Shellac to give it a shinny finish. I've been at it for a week in fits and starts because I wasn't satisfied with my handy work. Just 10 minutes ago I went to the shop to spray the last coat of varnish. It really was looking like something you will be proud of from your Agee. ;D Gave the last spray on the top. Lay it in the shop (I'm spraying outside). Got the little box, sprayed it, and it turned COMPLETELY white! I scratched my head and sprayed it again thinking I had gotten too close and it was full of bubbles. WRONG! It became so opaque I couldn't see the design. If it hadn't been for your instructions over the last three years I wouldn't have known what to do other than cry. I quickly got the denatured alcohol and wiped it clean! THANK YOU STRETCH, TIM, CODY, JERRY, et. all. The two years you spent teaching me about sanding and finishing paid off! Being an Agee by definition makes me a slow learner. ;D ;D Hope this gives you all a chuckle. I certainly deserve it. Read the can and it said to avoid spraying in high humidity. Our heat index today is 122 F. Daah! I can't wait to show you the little box but have to start refinishing again!

Nothing wrong with making a mistake, especially not when you know how to handle it. I'm glad you didn't end up with a well crafted box that was just white.

Glad you saved it and recovered, Elizabeth. I'm really excited about seeing your creation, now. You are a very good artisan (for an Agee) and I'm sure it will be beautiful.

You all got me started on this in January!!! Been at it diligently. But I am your Agee. There always needs to be one, and I'm tickled to be it! ;D

... for a minute there, I thought you were going to say... "and I picked up the can of white paint and sprayed it!" ;D Glad you had your wits with you & fixed it!

Yup, blushing is a pain when you're spraying in high humidity. Happened to me a few days back too. ;D I'm glad you were able to recover and I'm excited to see the finished project.

In the purest purist sense of the term, an attender of - or graduate from - Texas A&M (agricultural) College.

Just so ya know. What you done ain't half bad.
I have done it - yes I have - I did it - actually.
I accidently sprayed - yes its true - BLACK spray paint on a project.
I was using spray shellec as a sealer coat on a sign I was making - and I accidentally grabbed the black spray paint and boldy sprayed a good swath of black on top of the raw wood.
So - it happens.
The trick is to recover - and you did.
Skill - is not always how to not make mistakes - but how well you recover when you DO make a mistake.
Congratulations - YOU - recovered.

That must have felt like a kick in the gut when you realized what you did. I've been there too many times to count. ;D

ok, I'll bite....what's an Agee? This will remove the confusion about Agee. This is not the correct spelling of it. It is spelled aggie. Elizabeth, is no true aggie, believe me they take offense to any misspelling of their fine institution. See there Elizabeth, even aggies, can correct their own mistakes. Now if they would just start up "Bonfire" tradition again. The biggest aggie mistake of them all would be corrected. For those that don't know. Google aggie bonfire. Terrible what happened few years back.

Congrats on your persistence. That finishing thing happens to all of us at one time or another. Knowing how to respond is the mark of a master in the bloom. Looking forward to the pictures and future projects.

did y'all hear about the body they found on the A&M campus at College Station? One of the grounds maintenance crew discovered it virtually inside a bush as he was pruning.
The body was severely decomposed and almost mummified in places but through dental records, authorities were finally able to identify it.
Turns out it was the 1957 Aggie hide & seek champion. ;D
