yep, on page too they're selling them... It'd make a nice, compact story-stick

I think it's practical.
Any time you can eliminate deciphering all of those little marks on a real tape measure, you're eliminating a good chance of error.

I have a story stick by woodpecker. It is great to have and works on projects that you are likely to build again. Great idea and cheaper too. For instance, I will probably build clocks for my remaining days. The story stick works great, thus, so would a story tape. Pull it out, mark, mark, mark, cut!

Rob Lee from Lee valley says that it isn't photo shopped and they can be made. Seems like it is a yearly April fool stunt. Sounds like a lot of fun. He posted on Sawmill Creek forum.

Thinkin' more... I wonder how well dry-erase markers would work on that thing.

I agree! That could very well be a very useful tool... Make your Story stick(s) the easy way! I wonder if you really CAN order one, two, or three!! ( ) The price is very reasonable... yes? No distractions with those other marks that are meaningless with a true Story stick!

I've got a door facing with pencil marks all over it showing the heights of my girls as they grew up. I could have used one of those tapes several years ago!
BTW, that White Bass being measured would be illegal on some Texas lakes where 12" is the minimum length. It appears that it will barely qualify for the state minimum length of 10".

Speaking of story sticks...
How about a Story Workbench" covered with white Formica?
I just came in from the shop after laying out a coffee table on the bench top.
Once the kid looks at it, I'll start building the coffee table. Is 56 x 32 too big for a coffee table? (I think so.) Oval in shape too.
Oh, the pencil erases really easy with a damp cloth or a bit of lacquer thinner.

I guess they have not heard about Flat Rate boxes! They're based in Canada- and we don't have flat rate boxes...and shipping from Canada is much higher than shipping TO Canada....

Fellers I'm pretty sure they truck a lot of their stuff to a bigoll warehouse just across the river in New York and ship most/all US orders from there. Wherever they ship from I'm getting two for me and one for each of the boys. That should quiet the endless arguments over which measuring system should prevail. ;D
