I have been having a problem with my DC vibrating for around a week. This morning I took it apart and found that the curlers that come off of the lathe had got stuck on the edge of the blades of the blower. Cleaned it and put back together, walla ok. Fred

WOW! I didn't know lathes were involved with "hair-do's" ;D When you say "curlers" do you mean curled cuts of wood? If not, what? Sounds like a real quirk to say the least... and a simple solution!

That's the major problem with single-stage collectors. Everything passes through the impeller. You could put a collection drum between the impeller and the tool that will catch all the big stuff before it gets to the impeller. That's basically how a cyclone works.
I can also see how those curlies clung to the impeller blades. Every time I turn something, I get those things festooning everything within 10' of the lathe.
Glad you found the problem and it wasn't anything serious.

Hey Joe maybe I should of called them curlies, think I did but spell check changed it. Little curles of wood that cling to everything. Cody pointed out my problelm , I may have to think on a solution. Fred

Yep... all you need is that extra can between tool & impeller...
Thank you for the clarification!
