Anybody turned moose antler? I spotted one antler today that was being sold for $85. I'd imagine one could get quite a few pen blanks out of a moose antler.

All I know about it is that it stinks like crazy while you turn it.

I'm trying to remember...is "moose" plural for "mouse" ? ;D Either way, I have to say no, I have not had the chance to try that yet. I'm thinking there could be some very interesting pieces to play with in Moose antler. You'd better post pics when you get something made with it.  |

Are you nuts? Yes. I don't think you have to be crazy to be a pen turner...but it helps ;D How many pens to you think you could make from that Moose antler? Might be worth the cost. You've never spent $85.00 on a Christmas present??? |

How many pens to you think you could make from that Moose antler? Eh...I'm kind of done with pens. I've made pens for everybody. Everybody's sick of pens. Nevertheless, I was trying to figure it out. I didn't take any measurements though, so it's hard to say. |

Everybody's sick of pens. I'm not  Man, I cannot think of anything that has more possibilities than pens, from materials used to all of the different pen kits that are available. How about a letter opener? I got a request to make one using antler and it seems like a great idea. |
