Ah, yes, the rules. I hate 'em. I'm sure a lot of others hate 'em. But it seems that if there are no rules, then there is no basis for which to judge each instance on. How can you warn someone about incivility if there are no rules about civility?
RULES
Rule 1. BE CIVIL. Take it easy on the insults, name calling, etc. This one needs very little explanation. If it'd hurt your feelings to be called something, it'll probably hurt somebody else's too.
Rule 2. No chumming the water. Ok, so member B is a real fanatic about (insert hot topic). That's good and fine. Don't intentionally slam that topic just in the hopes of getting a war started. You may find, the chum you put out to draw one shark might just draw a whole school of piranhas.
Rule 3. Eliminate the F-bomb. I'm not going to enforce any significant language censorship here. I'm not a fan of telling or being told how to talk. Just take it easy on the swearing and try not to drop the F-Bomb too often. Keep in mind that this is a fully PUBLIC forum. Women and kids can read here, so keep it roughly PG 13 or thereabouts. I don't want to turn on the forum censor program, but if it becomes a problem, I will...
Rule 4. No pornographic images/videos/links, etc. This is one of the few things that will be answered with an immediate ban, with no questions asked, no explanations accepted. Just don't do it![/center]
Now, with rules there must be some form of enforcement.
For the first three rules, there will be a basic 3 strikes system. You get three individual warnings about the same thing, and you will be uninvited to visit the forum via permanent Ban.
For the last rule, rule #4, no warning will be given, no explanation made, no exceptions. You put porn on the forum, you get a free boot print on your butt!
