[/img]First let me say that for health rrasons I don't do any turning anymore and very little WW except for some Honey Do projects.I'll post a pic of some of my work from time to time for those that haven't seen it.a few have .Tim,Leo,Jerry ,Mapleman and a few others I can't think of right off hand. I had thrown this chunk of Avocado on the floor and kicked it under the lathe or bench, because of these goofy looking fractures it had developed.I figured it was history as as it continued to dry you could hear it splitting.I figured what the heck it was free. Well one day about a year later I ran across it,I had forgotten all about it,and decided to see just what was inside that blank. It was a very soft wood and as I turned the wood away it started that noise making,as it got thinner and thinner it talked louder and louder.I was afraid if I turned it down any further I may lose it so I put a few finish turns on it ,sanded it a little and set it with chucj attached to dry.I guess it dried for another 6 months and quite talking after a while.I finally slapped it back on the spidle and put a quick finish on it.It has survived now for 5 or 6 years I guess. dick

I don't know what happened to the story or the image but I'll try again First let me say that for health reasons I don't do any turning anymore and very little WW except for some Honey Do projects.I'll post a pic of some of my work from time to time for those that haven't seen it.a few have .Tim,Leo,Jerry ,Mapleman and a few others I can't think of right off hand. This bowl is 10 or 11 inches in diameter,I have forgotten and it is in West Virginia.I think it became a keeper as its got a uniqueness of its own. dick

That is SOME COOL... and worth doing a whole line of, just 'cause of that fantastic instability.

I've turned some bowls and such from wood that had splits and cracks already, and a few that opened a bit more as I turned, but never one that groaned and talked to me while I was turning it. Got to be a nit scary.

Dick when I looked at it the first time before reading the post I though you did some carving on it. Very nice and groovy wood that word ought to get Tim going.
