My oncologist recently passed her Oncology Boards and I wanted to give her a gift as a congratulatory gesture so I ordered some Euro Pen kits with caduceus clip. Cut up some blanks from some scrap mesquite and got them tubed and ready to go. Today I finally got tired of waiting on the weather to warm up and just went out into the shop and turned a pen for her. It has been like forever since I've turned anything, and it was a blast. I'll take it to her tomorrow and may try to get a pic before hand. ;D

That is fantastic Jerry! I've always believed that turning is very good for raising your spirits.
I've been procrastinating getting out into the shop all day because the weather has been very gloomy. Cold and rainy...yuk!
I think I will follow your lead and head out to turn a pen in spite of the weather.

I'll bet it felt good, huh? I'll bet your oncologist really appreciates the gift, too. Not every patient has the skills and knowledge to turn a fine pen. Ya done good, buddy.
Now, just cause you've been feeling a bit puny doesn't let you off the hook as far as pictures are concerned. We'll all be wanting a look at that pen. ;D

congrats Jerry. it certainly does feel good. i guarantee she likes it. like Cody said, not every dr. gets a patient with a talent like that.
i have a lot of trouble right now b/c my fingers freeze off - what with the inside shop temp being between -10 and 15F, depending on the day!!!!

Yikes John! I guess I should quit complaining when my shop gets down below 60 on days like today. I can handle 60*, but anything less than that and I have to put on a long sleeved shirt. ;D

I'll be laughing out of the other side of my face then.

heh ;D ;D ;D i fog up my face shield in the winter b/c the air is so dry and my breath so humid. then in the summer, the air is so humid already, the danged thing fogs up again, just as easy. i have tried the old soapy trick, without much success... oh well. anyway - glad to hear you is turnin' again! john
