I bought this lathe today, from my tax refund. Here's the Linky. It should be here in a week or so. My big Grizzly is having problems turning something so small.

That's a pretty neat li'l lathe. If memory serves, that's the same lathe TJ uses.

I got it specifically for turning pens. I hope it works well. If not, I'll be sending it back.

I would say congratulations but without pics of that lathe in your shop, I'm afraid it just didn't happen. ;D

Well, I spoke too soon. My wife put the kibosh on the purchase until after we get a few things done on the house. At least I have something to look forward to, some day.

Oh man - that sucks!!! Well....at least you have your full sized one! Zac Yeah, thanks for the support brother. My wife read off a laundry list of stuff we need for this house, and I felt kind of guilty for wanting a new lathe. Naturally, she was correct in our needs vs. wants. That sucks, but what can you do, huh?

That sucks, but what can you do, huh? I've watched Boodrow sell over $800 worth of bottle stoppers in one day...and not even his best day. It wouldn't take long to pay for the lathe AND take care of that laundry list at that rate. But, I am also married and I understand. Bummer about the lathe, though.

I'm not married (at the moment - may change soon), but I definitely understand about finances & how needs MUST come before wants. I've been through times when needs came very dearly and wants were only a distant dream.
I've also been through times, though, when another person was dictating the distinction between needs & wants, and prioritizing her wants above mine despite the fact that I was (by her free choice, not because of needs) the only earner. I'm not saying that's true of anyone else, it's just a thought from my past pokin' through the veil.

A wife or a lathe, a wife or a lathe, at my age you have to think about that for awhile.

We all do what we have to do. You probably made the right decision How about fixing your Griz lathe to do what you need. Lathes are pretty basic.

Wives always have a way of bringing us back to our senses. Sounds like you need a few more brownie points before you get a new lathe. ;D
