I tried dipping a pen over this last weekend and I am curious about what you guys do for final sanding/polishing. I have a few spots were the laquer built up thicker than in other areas.. Should I just micromesh and polish with eee like I have done with ca, or is there a better method? I have used spray on laquer where where this build up was not a problem since I was able to coat pretty evenly. This is the first time trying the laquer dip methood.

Did you whip/shake the tube once before you hung it? Interesting that it'd build up like that... micromesh would work just fine for knocking it back down, but WAIT until it's FULLY HARD (at least 24 hours) before you sand.

Timmer,
Since you're the resident lacquer dipping (too cold for skinny dippin') expert, why don't you do a tutorial on the process. I'd like to give it a try some time.

Can do... I'd better start a clean thread for it, 'case it's worthy of "article" status.

well, here is what I did (and yes a write up would be awesome), first I just brushed it on. course too thick and when it was sitting it pooled to bottom end. Then I did some reading on it and learned I should thin it and dip and sling it. I did not have any thinner so I just dipped it then slung the excess off from there. I think I dipped it about 3 times. It is not too thick on one side but I notice it. When I do this again I am going to thin it and do your methood. I just wasn't sure if the eee will be ok after micromeshing. I wont sand and polish till this weekend. It has been sitting in my house curing for a few days already

LMAO!
I do the dipping method too sometimes, but I'll see what Timmer does to document the process to see if I am doing it right.

Can't reply to Tim's tutorial but great write-up, Tim. That really explains the process well. i'll be giving it a try next pen or small item I turn.
Thanks
